You will sometimes be faced with a complex financial problem that is beyond the capacity of your day-to-day accounting resources to handle. This is when you need a specialist financial analyst who can quickly identify the key issues and relationships and has the ability to express them in clear financial terms, numerically and graphically. When the problem is properly analysed and the financial choices are clearly articulated, then a sensible decision can be made.

Qualities needed
This type of work requires extensive business experience, a high level of technical financial knowledge and often mathematical tools to produce a meaningful result.

Special situations
There are many situations where a specialised evaluation may be required, including:

• Property financing and strategy negotiations, either investment or development projects
  
• Complex acquisition or merger deals with different financing options and return expectations for the various parties
• Break-up situations, where the effect of splitting assets between the parties needs to be clearly set out
