I am currently concentrating on my business and financial advisory work, servicing clients in a variety of industry sectors.
Before that, I was co-founder of a boutique corporate finance operation, raising finance for high-tech businesses and providing mentoring and training in entrepreneurship for start-ups. I sold my stake in this business in January 2010.
I've been involved in six start-up ventures and raised over EUR18m in equity and loan finance for these and client companies.
I was a founding shareholder and director of SystemLink, which develops, manufactures and distributes proprietary heat zoning and zone control products to the residential and commercial building markets.
Before that, I was head of mergers and acquisitions for Eircom, where I completed 13 transactions totalling over EUR80 million. Cases covered all aspects of a modern telecommunications and IT business and took many forms, including acquisitions, minority stakes, joint ventures, business spin-offs, and new start-ups. In addition to deal assessment, structuring, due diligence, negotiation and completion, I was involved in defining the growth objectives to be achieved and the process of focusing and refining the search for initiatives. Corporate finance work with PricewaterhouseCoopers (formerly Cooper& Lybrand) included advising on the initial formation of Telecom Eireann (now Eircom) from the Department of Posts and Telegraphs and on the creation of its treasury subsidiary, Irish Telecommunications Investments plc.
I also set up and managed a new finance and fully licensed insurance subsidiary group for an Irish plc.
I am a Chartered Accountant and have a BBS and BA (pure mathematics) from Trinity College Dublin.
